Shannon Aleshire

With more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Shannon Aleshire brings practical, executive-level expertise to mission-driven organizations. As Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Health Association of Frederick County for a decade, she led significant organizational growth — expanding the budget from $2.3 million to $8.9 million, doubling staff capacity, strengthening governance practices, and advancing program quality and compliance.

Her leadership experience spans strategic planning, board development, financial oversight, program expansion, risk management, and community advocacy. Shannon has led through growth, restructuring, accreditation, funding challenges, and board evolution — giving her a deep understanding of the complex realities nonprofit leaders face.

In addition to her executive leadership, Shannon has served on multiple nonprofit boards, including the Local Management Boards of Frederick and Carroll Counties and 211 Maryland. Her dual perspective as both CEO and board member allows her to support organizations with clarity, alignment, and strong governance practices.

After more than two decades inside nonprofit organizations — and ten years as a CEO — I understand how heavy leadership can feel. The responsibility is real. The decisions are complex. And the stakes are high.

My goal is to provide nonprofit leaders and boards with the structure, strategy, and systems they need to lead with confidence. When governance is clear, finances are aligned, and programs are supported by strong infrastructure, organizations can focus fully on their mission — and expand their impact for years to come.
